Hi! I’m Kaitlyn, the maker behind Creative on Holiday, a small-batch ceramics brand born from a very unexpected love affair with clay.
In May 2024, I took my first pottery class at a local studio—an early birthday gift from my sister, mom, and dad—and I was immediately hooked. Something about turning a simple lump of clay into a functional, beautiful, totally custom piece just clicked. I loved the patience it required, the learning curve, the mess, the challenge… and honestly, I loved that it got me off my phone for a while (don’t get me wrong, I love my TikTok scrolls).
After that first month, I took some time to practice and then jumped right into the next level of classes. Around then, I quietly started an Instagram page and named it Creative on Holiday—a nod to my graphic design background and the little creative escape pottery had become for me. One thing led to another, and suddenly I was buying “just one more pottery tool” every week. Naturally, that turned into convincing myself I needed a pottery wheel… and eventually into leaving my full-time graphic design job to create a tiny home studio of my own.
Every piece you’ll find here is handmade by me, slowly and intentionally. I’m constantly learning, experimenting, and pushing myself to try new techniques, colors, and forms. This craft still feels like magic to me.
Why Creative on Holiday?
Simply put: I wanted a break. In a world where creativity is treated like a finish line—where you’re supposed to be the first, the best, the only—the pressure can be exhausting. I wanted a space where my creativity didn’t have to perform. A space where it could rest, breathe, wander, and take its time. I wanted to be a creative that was on holiday. That’s what this brand is to me: A holiday. A place to dream, experiment, make mistakes, learn, and have fun.
My hope is that when you bring one of my pieces into your home, you feel that same energy—a little escape, a little joy, a little creativity, a little moment that feels like your own version of “holiday.”
